The third step in finding happiness: methods and tools – part 2: Integrative psychotherapy

(If you wish to read this article in its original, Hungarian version, click here)

I will be writing about a variety of methods in this heading. Some can be done on your own, some require professional assistance. The method I am writing about today falls into the latter category. You can find therapists who are specialized in integrative therapy.

I have partaken in this kind of therapy before. I went to a therapist, who is in high regard within her line of work, and we worked together for 2.5 years. I am immensely grateful to her, for she helped me accomplish an unbelievable amount of progress with her method. So I can assure you, this method works, and not only for me! The people who I’ve recommended it to (and were persistent enough to go regularly) have all achieved considerable spiritual progress. I also find it important to mention, that of all the methods I have tried in the past 18 years, this one is by far the most effective. Those 2.5 years I spent in integrative therapy brought the greatest amount of spiritual progress in my life ever.

What’s really great about this method, is that it is founded upon one of the biggest realizations of my life: Spiritual problems cannot be healed or influenced by rational thinking. (That is if you were affected by something in your childhood that left its scar on you, which to this day hasn’t been healed by anyone.) Spiritual problems are rooted in our subconscious, which is why the most efficient methods are those that can offer healing on a subconscious level. To understand the way this method works, imagine that all the negative emotions buried deep within you have formed a deep well in your soul. If your self-knowledge is above a certain level, you may have sensed that already. This ,,well” is what generates for example that feeling of numbness or fear when you are alone and aren’t doing anything. A feeling that people are running away from. That is why we always want to do something. Be it scrolling through social media, surfing the net, working, etc.... When nothing is happening, we are grasped by that strange sense of emptiness, which is terrifying. Generally, the deeper someone’s ,,well”, the more restless and loud they are, the more complicated they live their lives. That is because they need to run away from their ,,well” more than someone who’s ,,well” is not as deep as theirs.

The point of integrative psychotherapy is filling the ,,well” in your soul with packages of positive emotions week after week. Imagine that ever single positive emotion you feel is a small rock you throw into the ,,well”. If you go to therapy every week and throw rocks into the ,,well” with the help of your therapist, after a while it will fill up with them. The less deep your ,,well” is, the more peaceful you will be, the more you will accept yourself, and as a consequence of this you’ll have less conflicts with the world. What makes the method effective is that this all happens subconsciously, which ensures the filling up of the ,,well”.

If your life is full of strain and you’d like to live more peacefully and happily or you’d like to achieve progress spiritually, choose a therapist and they’ll gladly help you! Go to your sessions persistently! But don’t forget, spiritual progress is never linear, so your progress won’t be continuous. There will be fallbacks but you can’t let them take away your motivation! The fallbacks will never be as bad as where you started from!

Another good thing about this method is that it works whether you believe in it or not. When I started I didn’t believe in it and still it worked for me too. The method doesn’t require immersed self-knowledge. It only takes one simple thing for it to work: You have to begin your journey and continue it persistantly!
