In my early 30’s my throat had been hurting
regularly for years. It usually hurt for smaller periods of time which still
made up about 200 of my days in a year. My children had been really young and I
constantly worried that they would catch some sickness from me. Our general
practicioner couldn’t find the source of the sickness and I was sent to several
tests and examinations. I went to at least 6 different specialists but they all
said that from their professional viewpoint, I was completely healthy. At that
point in my life the thought of getting a divorce had been on my mind more and
more, the concept of which seemed so absurd to me that I couldn’t even admit to
myself how seriously I was considering it. I did not dare accept the
intensifying feeling let alone talk about it to anyone. Back then I had not
known anything of psychosomatics. Being a rational engineer, I probably would
have dismissed the idea entirely, saying it was folly. There was still no cure
for the sickness, however, when I finally got the courage to look the deep and
serious spiritual issue I was facing in the eye and what’s more talked about it
with my then-wife and my best friend, the symphtoms simply dissappeared.
That’s how big of a connection there is
between spiritual and physical issues. Burying and carrying our grievances,
pains, uncured spiritual wounds for years on end is bound to result in diseases
sooner or later. Your body is signaling you and it is telling you this: Please
help, we are in distress! Don’t be blind! Look your soul in the eye and stop
running from yourself!
Ever since I’ve been looking at people
this way, I have come across hundreds of examples I could mention. I’ll write
about one more for you. An acquaintance of mine had been through a divorce and
hate bloomed between the divorced couple. The divorce hadn’t been finalized
yet, they had long been arguing about the question of property. The woman
wasn’t willing to let go of the wealth she was used to living in, even though
in terms of law, she wasn’t entitled to much of it. She became so obsessed with
it that all of her energy and hate were turned toward clinging to that wealth
tooth and nail. Naturally she developed an extremely progressed case of
hemorrhoids, one that could only minimally be cured even with surgery. This is
a typical physical consequence of not wanting to let go of something that
should be let go of. Her body warned her that she was in too deep and that this
wasn’t her path. But that stubborn ego wouldn’t let go of the obsession it had
formed.
There are cases when we can’t
make clear conclusions about spiritual issues from physical signs. The main
reason behind this is our own ego. It has developed for this exact reason, to
hide our spiritual wounds and protect us from the things that we have not
accepted in ourselves. In most cases this makes us blind when it comes to
finding connections between our own physical and spiritual state. However, an
understanding partner or friend, a good therapist or kinesiologist can help
with this. Sadly, in order to get around our ego we need to be on a very
advanced spiritual level. Few people can do this. But that doesn’t mean we
should just accept the mirages created by the ego. With a little outside help,
you can see behind it as well!
The way diseases work has also
become obvious to me in the past years. As an engineer I instinctively look for
reason and connections between everything. Spiritual problems have the power to
change the vibration level of the spirit, which, after a while, causes physcial
alterations in the body. This is the
physical explanation of the process happening inside us. Spiritual problems
first cause spiritual alterations which present themselves in the form of
negative emotions. The regular appearance of these emotions and their continuous
repression further conservates the altered vibration level of the spirit, to
which the body reacts by changing. The first level of change is not harmful. It’s
purpose is to relieve the body of negative energies (these can be things like
crying, gagging, vomiting, frequent urinating, diarrhea, acid reflux, or the
opposite of these like constipation, convulsions, etc...). If these don’t help,
there comes the next level, which is filled with inflammations, physical pain,
convulsions (e.g. migranes, lymph inflammation, stomach pain, etc...). If these
still don’t bring a positive change in the soul’s vibration level, more serious
physical alterations begin. Continuous muscle or joint pain, hemorrhoids and so
on. The area in question can help determine the kind of the spiritual problem
that is causing it. The final stage is that of chronic diseases (peptic ulcer,
skin alterations, heart and vascular diseases, cancer...). I believe cancer is
psychosomatic in most cases as well. The problem is that if the spiritual
problem is causing alterations of this magnitude, the patient has repressed the
causing spiritual pain for so long and so deep that they have learned to live
with it and they cannot face it by themselves. I have consulted about this with
a cancer-specialist who said that she accepts that behind sicknesses like these
there is a spiritual reason. However, she also said that by the time these
patients arrive at the hospital their states are so progressed that there isn’t
time for this approach if the patient wishes to continue living. So they have
no choice but to attack the disease with more invasive methods. She also said
that at the hospital she workes at there is not one psychologist who could be
asked for this kind of help. I completely agree with her opinion. But how many
cases have we seen where patients who were cured of cancer relapse again few
years later. That’s why treating the spiritual problem is crucial, to ensure
that people don’t fall back into their past states of sickness. It would help
reduce the amount of people who relapse while increasing the given person’s
general level of happiness.
To those who are more seriously
interested in psychosomatrics, I will write about it from multiple aspects
later on this blog. You can also find a lot of quality literature in the topic.
One which provides a great start into psychosomatrics is Encyclopedia of
Ailments and Diseases by Jacques Martel. What’s important to know about the
author is that he has spent his whole life exploring the spiritual problems
behind sicknesses.
Two more pieces of advice!
First, if you recognize the reason behind psychosomatric symphtoms in one of
your loved ones, but they don’t want to accept it, please DO NOT force it upon
them! For some reason it is not time for them to start their journey on the
path of spiritual awakening yet. You can go a much longer way by peacfully
accepting the situation than you ever could by rational reasoning or
persuasion. The second piece of advice is, if rational medicine can’t find a
connection between two or more physical symphtoms, then they are 100%
psychosomatic. I had a friend with such symphtoms and naturally the solution
for his problem was spiritual healing...
I currently have a few mild
symphtoms as well, which I don’t fully know the spiritual cause of yet, despite
having payed attention to these new signals of my body. What I would like to
show you with this is that you need to be able to truly look into yourself
(which also requires immense self-knowledge) to be able to find spiritual
connections. This takes time. You can’t do it fast. If in another few weeks I
still haven’t figured out the solution by myself, or my symphtoms will have gotten
worse, I will definietly reach out to someone and ask for help. But since my body
has a reason for signaling me, I am sure it will help me find out how to help
myself...
I wish you great success in
getting healthier and getting more in tune with yourself through figuring out
your body’s signals and healing your soul!
